She first felt like a nurse in her last semester of nursing school, caring for a child receiving a bone marrow transplant. Her research career began at the bedside, infusing investigational product. She learned to be an advocate for her patients when she left the bedside for the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium. With that foundation, she leads studies that personally touch patients and their communities. Every decision starts and ends with one question: is this right for the participant? Each role she has held reached more patients, for longer. So she built EHG around observational research.

Gene therapy and AI are changing what disease foundations are needed for. Nurse Alicia sees it happening, so she developed the Patient Continuity Model. It shows a foundation how to become a Patient Continuity Organization™: the one that stays with its patients, data, and samples for years after a therapy arrives.

She has advocated for patients her whole career, first at the bedside, then in the nonprofit sector. This is what that advocacy looks like next.

Trained and certified in AI, she has built it into research and patient engagement platforms since 2023.
